CSV imports go wrong for predictable reasons
A CSV is plain text with delimited fields. Commas, semicolons, tabs and quoted line breaks are common. Excel exports may include a UTF-8 byte order mark. Other legacy files may use Western encodings, and detecting encoding from bytes alone is not always conclusive.
Worked example
For example, a row with a quoted comma should remain one field. An inconsistent column count suggests a broken quote, delimiter mismatch or irregular source data. Inspect the preview before converting.
Important assumptions and limitations
Files are processed locally in this browser. The automatic delimiter choice is heuristic; check the preview. The export normalizes text to UTF-8 with quoted comma-separated fields.
