HOW IT WORKS

Land units vary by region

International land measurements mix internationally standardized areas with regional customary units. One Thai rai is 1,600 m², one ngan is 400 m² and one square wah is 4 m². Kanal, marla and bigha vary with geographic convention.

Worked example

For example, 2 rai equals 3,200 m². In one Pakistan convention, one marla is 272.25 square feet and one kanal is 20 marla. The calculator explicitly states these assumptions.

Important assumptions and limitations

Bigha has no universal size: enter the local size in square metres rather than relying on a generic conversion. Confirm property measurements against local land records.
